Business Ideas with Vinyl Cutting Machines

When you think of cutting out vinyl it might bring back strange memories. Perhaps they include terrible hand cramps, and a lot of mishaps with the materials. It was an arduous process and not fun to do. These days, vinyl cutting machines have increased the amount of time companies can spend on design, expression, and sending customers great products. They no longer struggle to make accurate cuts with big and clunky machines.

The vinyl cutters of today are sleek, small, and can cut a lot more than just vinyl. Did you know that even companies that make t-shirts can rely upon cutting machines to make its designs come to life? The present-day cutting machines have come so far that they not only interface with desktop and notebook computers, but they also are able to go wireless. Make designs from a smartphone or mobile device and send the information directly to the cutting machine. Vinyl cutters for t-shirts are great way to set up a working business operation really quick.

Back To The Cutting Board

If you never want to go back to the cutting board to make an iron-on, and a transfer for t-shirts, a vinyl cutting machine will help out the efforts. Create the design and then send it via a Bluetooth device to the cutter. And, then, get to work creating a t-shirt with your new design.

Another type of business that uses vinyl cutouts is probably something you take very much for granted. Though, depending upon how you decorate your home, you may look at these items every day without giving it a second thought. They are vinyl wall stickers. You may find that they vary in permanence. They may be re-usable and can be transferred from this home and go with you into your next. Or, they can be moved around as you decide where they look best.

They may be designed and cut to suit any style, from ones that speak to the child’s imagination to the most delicate designs for a sophisticated office space. The possibilities are practically limitless. The sales on these are fairly high volume, and popular, similar to the businesses that are in the t-shirt making business.

Smaller, boutique businesses can create items that are popular for kids’ birthday parties. They may include such items as removable tattoos, depending upon the type of material they are printed onto. Even such items as fake floral arrangements can come to life thanks to companies that use these cutting machines.

When considering that the vinyl cutting machine can easily slice through more than 60 types of material it is not surprising that they are such a favorite go-to tool. You may buy products every day that are created from these materials. Looking to the future, it may be fun to combine the capabilities of both 3D printing machines and the vinyl 2D printers to make all kinds of creations.

Businesses rely upon vinyl cutting machines every day. It is no surprise then that they are always coming up with new features as technology improves. This will allow for even more creative ideas to be generated in the future.

Titanium Bike Lock

You know the feeling – you step outside and your wheels have gone. Yep, some a-hole has cut through your lock and stolen your bicycle.

So what do you do?

After replacing your bike you get a monster lock – probably one of those kryptonite ones. That’s right, you are now carrying around an extra couple of kilos of security.

John Loughlin is one of those people that likes to invent bike locks. Yes, there are people that like to invent bike locks.

This time he seems to have come up with a winner. The TiGr is made of titanium and weighs in at 406 g to 670 g.

Invest in its Development

The lock, which is a prototype at the moment, has been through extensive real world testing and is now ready for a full production run. To raise the $37,500 required for the next stage of development John has created a project on Kickstarter.

You can become a partner in the development of this great product. Inject from $1 to $500 and not only will you help to realise this great bike lock but you’ll also receive a whole host of goodies as well.

iPod Nano Wristwatch – A Success Story

Regular readers of this site will be aware that we are fans of the website Kickstater. This site allows people like you and I to crowd source funding for our brilliant ideas.

If it wasn’t for Kickstarter and a crowd of people who funded close to $1 Million (the original funding requirement was $15,000!) then the awesome TikTok and LunaTik iPod Nano Watch Straps would probably not have been made.

Prior to the Kickstarter funding drive Scott Wilson, the designer of the watch straps, was having difficulty getting anyone to help him manufacture is new accessory.

The Lessons

For me the lesson with this story is to follow what you believe in. Scott could have given up after being rejected by manufacturing companies; after all they understand the market, right?

The second lesson is to find a simple way to test the market. Kickstarter allowed Scott the opportunity to put his idea out there to see what would come back. Well, he certainly got his message – all $1 Million of it!

Fancy an Internet Kiss?

The Kajimoto Laboratory at the University of Electro-Communications in Japan (where else!) have developed what they believe to be the first kiss via the internet. How do you perform a kiss over the internet?

Well, apparently you put a black box with a straw poking out of it in into your mouth and move it around with your tongue. Your partner (lucky them) experiences the pleasure of having their straw move around in their mouth! How lovely.

The next step, these researchers say, is to replicate the taste, breathing and moisture associated with kissing.

We say that they should probably get out more, drink a few beers and talk to some real people.

Octopus Dance

The depths of our oceans are alien places for most of us, which is why videos that offer us a glimpse of what its like deep below the surface are so popular.

Here we get to watch an octopus, Grimpoteuthis bathynectes, who is also known as the ‘Dumbo Octopus’ due to its fins looking very much like the ears of Dumbo the Elephant (see 1:40 in the video for a wonderful demonstration).

Watch as this beautiful and mysterious creature of the deep glides gracefully in the inky depths of the Pacific Ocean 200 miles off the coast of Oregon.

Moreton Island Snorkelling

If you ever find yourself in Brisbane, Australia looking for something cool to do then head over to Moreton Island to snorkel the Tangalooma Wrecks.

The wrecks, which are semi-submerged scuttled ships, form the artificial reef that you will swim in and around. You’ll spend a day playing in and around a reef that is just as good as any you’ll find in the Great Barrier Reef.

There are a number of tour operators who provide snorkelling tours; our team went with Get Wet Sports who were very professional, knowledgeable and good fun. Make sure you chat to Stretch – he’s the big bloke with a great sense of humor!

Drive an Ariel Atom…Fast!

There was a time when the British motor industry was great. There has also been a time when it was dreadful.

It seems the sun may yet shine on British made cars again – the Ariel Atom is one such example.

However, at a starting price of $50,000 this niche handmade sports car might not be in everyone’s budget. If that’s the case then you’ll be thrilled to know that the US producer of the Atom, in conjunction with Virginia International Raceway are offering race days using the new Atom 3!

That’s right, from 30 April 2011 you can let loose in one of these little beauties!

Find out all about it here but be quick spaces are filling fast!
